'Workshop at O P Jindal Global University, Sonipat'

Learning and Preparing for the Future
On 20th October, 2015 a group of 12 teachers and 46 students visited O.P Jindal Global University, Sonipat. Students from Class 9 to12 visited the University with a motive to take decision regarding their forthcoming future.Teachers had workshop on "Behavioral Science" with the eminent lectures of the University. Dr.Shilpi Sharma, the resource person stressed and emphasized the importance of a teacher in structuring the life of students. She sensitized and familiarized the teachers with the problems and difficulties of the children with learning disability.According to Dr. Shilpi the first step to solution is identification. Since teachers are the first point of contact for the students, they can play a major role in identifying students who might be facing problems. Another resource person Mr. Bhanu Prakash re-emphasized that a facilitative and supportive environment can foster positive change. It is important that the child is encouraged and motivated in the right way and is supported to grow holistically. Focusing only on weaknesses and comparing the child to others can generate feelings of worthlessness.
