GS4G (Green School For Girls)- is run by Education World Foundation, and is working towards establishing a sustainable environment for generations to come. It aims at producing strong and independent women capable of earning a good living, raising awareness on societal issues and thus, helping them keep away from early marriages, health hazards like sexually transmitted diseases, reproductive concerns and so on. It entirely focuses on having a community in harmony with natural environment along with the prosperous growth of women leading to a better society.
Ms Rebecca Keogh, Chief Sustainability Officer of GS4G is leading this program with Samsara The World Academy. The enterprise has its focus on:
SUSTAINABILITY, GENDER EQUITY, DIGITAL LITERACY & DEEP LEARNING
How It Works:
1) It starts with identifying a local, disadvantaged community where we could help build resilience through educating their girls: 10-12 girls aged 8 years & above in agreement and due consent from their parents.
2) The GS4G club will organise activities for young girls which will be conducted at Samsara School, focusing on empowerment and entrepreneurial activities with a sustainability theme. After the initial build up of trust between the school and the local NGO the club would work towards a big sustainable project, which would be training them in establishing healthy environments, focussing on nature, making use of renewable energy sources and self-development.
3) The classes would be conducted on every working Saturday for 3 hours. We will have students from Samsara collaborate with the girls from local community and help them in developing garden beds, work on computer skills and english communication lessons throughout the program.
